Honestly, I am absolutely disgusted by academics suggesting that AI can do the reading and writing for you. At a certain point, what you're bragging about is fraud. And in a broader sense, what you're contributing to is the erosion of knowledge and the destruction of trust in academic publishing.

In particular, there’s this idea of filtering your readers was very interesting. That’s especially useful if you have a distinctive prose style that isn’t for everyone.

If the reader doesn’t enjoy the voice of the opening, they can skip.

I really enjoyed the latest episode of Writing Excuses, which discusses the voice driven opening as opposed to the action opening.

When I was starting out with short stories, I was encouraged to use the action opening but it always felt forced.
