If in doubt, paint Millie. Also, as my soul-kitty, she's definitely one of my valentines. I luv this little hellion.

What does progress mean to you? In life, in art, in business? Musings and some pen and ink drawings today... open.substack.com/pub/deromill...
loose and scribbly pen and ink sketch of a cat sitting on a wide fence. She's in loaf position with one elbow dropping off the edge.
I needed something soft and hopeful this morning.... maybe you do, too?
a middle aged woman with long hair with teal and purple highlights, wearing a black and white blouse and holding a tall coffee cup smiles at the camera.
Happy Friday. Chin up, remember what you stand for... and STAND FOR IT.
Happy New Year! Art vs artist from last year.
No time to create lots of art seems to be a THING in 2025. I'm on the same page.
Is it annoying the hell out of us because everything's behind a paywall that's nickel and diming us to death as well as walking off with our personal data? (Sorry, can't read the article, because it wants me to buy a subscription first.) <sigh>
Pencil drawing of a little rocky land dragon, back to us, looking over his shoulder at the butterfly sitting on his tail. Signature in the bottom right reads Romilly
Remember wonder. Little land dragon has a tiny new friend. #graphite #fantasyart #dragon
a small sketch in black, cream and pink of a mouse-shaped helmet with a pink feather.
I have GOT to remember to post around here! No one can find me if I'm not here, right? Anyway... I've been painting blobs and finding critters in them. It's been fun... and the studio is cool enough to actually paint, so I'm back to painting! YAY!
You succeeded. I saw your art before this post and my first thought was, "that has a very L
eyendecker feel about it!" My brain didn't catch to the original, just that it felt like Leyendecker.
I dood it! I got a portfolio site up. FINALLY. It's not perfect, but it's there... and you can get to my redbubble and ko-fi accounts from it. deromilly.carrd.co
Also, I need a haircut and a new profile pic. LOL
I love my copy of this book. It's an opportunity to just get some much needed respite and good vibes from a fantastic artist whenever I need it. (Follow him here, too, for more!)
Three little musketeer mice... All for one and one for all. drawn in pen and ink for day 38 of my Summer Art Marathon participation!
I am VERY pleased with how my skills are evolving during #SAM2025. This is only my second favorite piece from this past week (Six) you can see the rest of them on my substack post today (posts at noon)! open.substack.com/pub/deromill...
a detail from a pen and ink sketch... a bird started at frog on our side porch.
We're into #SAM2025 week 6! Which means my thoughts on week five were posted last Friday...

A page of pen and ink drawings of dogs and cats. Both copied from Charles Dana Gibson and imagined by me from references on Unsplash.
I'm trying to improve my inking skills. I've always loved the early 1900s artists -- Kley, Gibson, et al... So I'm doing studies and integrating what I learn into my own work. Wanna follow the process this summer? Check out my substack newsletter for weekly updates... deromilly.substack.com
not wrong. unfortunately this sort of behavior is very common. π I've even heard of people videotaping live workshops they attend and selling the recordings. I'd probably include a link in all my comments to b where you can buy the original color chart ...
I know it's not a movie, but I'm now officially old, and Mork and Mindy will always be first in my heart. (Followed by Dead Poet's Society, 'cause I'm an English major, and I think that's required. LOL).
I'll take it. Right now the 90degF weather in the US mid-south can jump off a cliff. :P
A partial study I did in pen and ink of a drawing by Charles Dana Gibson. The head and shoulders of a woman in a puff sleeved evening gown in profile.
It's Day 2 of the #SummerArtMarathon! More Gibson studies. If this interests you, and you want to read my thoughts on this project as I go on, please join me on substack for the Friday review! open.substack.com/pub/deromilly
a close up photo of a Southern magnolia blossom on the tree with blue sky behind.
you deserve a real flower for that work. :) but also πΊ
I have a candle in sconce in library fantasy, myself...
I'm curious. How many artists have heard of a apazine? And how many would be interested in participating in an old-fashioned, photocopied, snail-mail one?
you've inspired me to try... my brain is putting together a format for a monthly old school art zine apa... chats, sketch shares, new friends.
APAs.. (Amateur Press Associations)... collated zines by groups of people... I miss the ones I used to belong to.
a tableau of a sketchbook page with ink drawings of birds, and a bottle of Sennelier black ink with a teal and silver dip pen sitting on top of the book.
Closeup of an ink drawing of a bird in a birdbath from the previous sketchbook page. A teal and silver dip pen with a Nikko G nib sits at the top of the page.
I'm prepping for SAM (Summer Art Marathon, run by Stevie Scott -info www.youtube.com/watch?v=N_mU...)
To break in my new nibs and ink, I sketched birds from CatTV. This page was all just one wren in different positions.π I did 3 pages of different birds... oops. Is it June yet?
so pretty!
I've pretty much stagnated over the past 2 months. Overwhelmed by *waves around* EVERYTHING. Not much art. just chauffeuring my FIL to and from the doctor for his lymphoma and crying. The crying happens more when I'm in pain and completely inflamed (arthritis sucks)... but it's everything...
If you see this, quote this post with a gif from the anime youβre currently watching...
This is wonderful! Love the wordplay.
