We further found that many mQTL effects are shared across biofluids. This indicates that at least some genetic effects on the metabolome are not specific to biofluid or tissue type, as also observed in gene expression QTL studies.

We identified 126 significant mQTLs. By linking these with brain traits, we found that over 90% of mQTLs colocalized with brain-specific gene expression.🧬

By integrating CSF metabolomics with genetic data in 977 individuals, we aimed to understand how genetic variation impacts neurobiological processes in dementia. 🧬
