Justifiers invade the ‘part of town they want’, calling the people they are capturing ‘swine’, and declaring that “the women and children are as hated as the men”. They drag people from their homes, declaring that they ‘waiting to do this for years’. Familiar.
The justifiers continue to drag people away, saying they are nothing but animals and declaring themselves justified in ridding the city of these people. As if the point wasn’t clear enough, a justifier then goes on to burning down a library, calling the books within ‘decadent’, and that “you need know no more than the PROPER thing”
Like it is uncomfortable in how real this is, and of course as a Jewish man and a WWII veteran, Kirby is able to recognise this behaviour, which was not absent in the years since but an ever-bubbling threat, and indeed *gestures to the world today*
Fascism has a shallow playbook, and so Kirby speaks to past and present with this stuff.

Mind you Chapter 20, Digital Storytelling, stood out to me as the one that made me go "I didn't KNOW THAT!!" and feels to me like it would definitely resonate with an online audience who wasn't around then.
Hard pick, but purely for standalone value I'd lean towards something from Chapter 4, about the original TFC, as I think it works without the context of needing to know what "Transmasters" or "TMUK" or who any of the people involved are that later chapters talk about so extensively.
The fact that one of the most interesting versions of Captain Hook is probably from the 90's Fox's Peter Pan & The Pirates, is kind of crazy.

idk I’ve seen a bajillion kids movies where the kids parents die & let me tell you, having a convo with my kid about how anyone can die at any time & it doesn’t matter if they’re someone’s mom or dad is way harder than having a convo about how sometimes someone has two dads or whatever. And yet
I see Royal Mail are raising postage prices again in April. This is now basically a bi-annual gouge, with no explanation of why the rises are necessary. Disastrous for small creators and business. Since Royal Mail was privatised in 2013 first class prices have gone from 60p to £1.80 per item.
I'm too bored of this to try and be clever about it anymore.
