The difference in the Buck/Abby relationship and the Buck/Eddie relationship is that Buck wanted to make things better for Abby and fix it, whereas with Eddie, he's stepped right into the life/mess Eddie lives and is a pillar of support. He's never tried to fix Eddie and Chris.

Abby even says she lost her sense of self when she's talking to Buck at the end of the episode and that she was afraid if she came back to LA that she would lose herself again, and isn't that what Eddie is experiencing? He's put everyone else's needs above his own,

I just rewatched the train wreck episode (3x18) and now I have what is probably an unpopular opinion. Abby and Eddie aren't that dissimilar. They've both giving up a large part of themselves to look after someone else (Abby's mum and Chris).

Have we considered, that Tim is recreating/redoing buddie from S2? And not just their greatest hits? He compares the end of 8x8 to the end of s2 and Buck and Eddie aren’t talking because of the lawsuit and clearly the end of 8x8 is gonna put a strain on them similarly to the lawsuit…right??
