Five days before Angel Cityβs Ali Riley was to be married in Ventura County, her parents were evacuated from her childhood home in Pacific Palisades.
When she should have been double-checking details, she was monitoring the progress of a monster blaze.

San Diego Wave FC announced today that the Club has acquired 22-year-old forward Gia Corley via transfer from German Bundesliga side, TSG Hoffenheim Frauen for an undisclosed fee. Her contract with the Wave includes a two-year deal through the 2026 season.

So Gia Corley is headed to San Diego Wave.
She's an attacking and box-to-box midfielder. She's been playing in Germany's youth national teams and has been expected to take the next step in her game for a while now, so making a move might be a good thing for her generally. #NWSL 1/2
Turns out sheβs actually a midfielder! Even more exciting now! π€©
Can I get a good ref with a side of Spirit W? π π½
π¨NEW WORDS ALERTπ¨

Welcome to D.C., Tamara! ππ€
Fair. Though considering theyβre in a rebuild and there have been signs of them cleaning house and opening some new opportunities with staff, Iβm confident in their dedication to trying. I wonβt pass judgment before seeing a finished product.
Possibly. We donβt know how those negotiations went. It also comes down to what teams are willing/able to pay and whether or not Shaw wanted to go to a particular team. Shaw requested the trade and Wave did what they could to accommodate, operating with player autonomy in mind from the start
Ah there was a ? in your post on that point. Guessing that was unintentional lol
So she wasnβt really responsible for our midfield woes. She didnβt sign Sav, or let Flint walk. She didnβt injure Shaw, Mel B, Ascanio or Colaprico.
iirc by the time the dust settles, itβll
be over $500,0000 total for Jae. Wellβ¦ Camille got there in June. The season was halfway done by then. Since sheβs arrived weβve gotten Cascarino and Morroni (players that have made a significant difference), kept Lundkvist, McNabb, Bealle. +Byars/McMahon
βThat seems like not great business, especially for a GM that was forced out of another job less than a year agoβ suggests otherwise.
Jae said the move is bittersweet. Sheβs ready for new growth and opportunities and as a fan, Iβm excited for her. As a Wave fan, Iβm excited for whatβs to come.
No apology needed π Iβve been going cross-eyed trying to keep track of all the moves, including with staff and coaches lol
Many analysts and those familiar with him say the league will fit his style well. Guess those of us willing to find out will just have to wait and see.
Yes, a midfield built before she got there. Not her βbad businessβ A loss of a pivotal midfielder (Flint) that was being underutilizedβ¦ by the previous coach. Poor midfield, poor coaching choices, lack of finishing. There is never just one answer. Hopefully this rebuild changes all that.
Sheβs also responsible for assisting with building KC into the force it became. Itβs in all the articlesβ¦ Also a resignation isnβt being forced. She made that choice. She had good talent come in at KC, sheβs trying to do the same for Wave. But if you wanna keep hating thatβs on you.
Is it really outlandish that playoffs were missed when we had 3 coaches in a season, 2 of which were simply not cut out for the job? Also, none of those coaching choices had anything to do with the GM
If he stated that recently, itβs incorrect. As of now, the avg age is 23.26. Thatβs not too crazy especially as they have stated that they are dedicated to building around young, promising talent which will be a change from previous years. We lost one (1) big star player to a trade.
And if you donβt mind, genuinely wondering where it says Ashton was forced out of her KC job when she resigned?
I said nearly. And where does this fake 17 keep coming from? Itβs 19.

6 out of 7, now 8. How is it bad business when nearly all of them have proven themselves and are regular starters?
14 - No player scored more goals as a teenager in all #NWSL
competitions than the North Carolina Courage's Jaedyn Shaw (14). Acquisition.

The league record isnβt that much higher actually. Plus Wave was nearly out of international slots with current rostered players. Now they have a total of 8 for the next 2 seasons with more money coming too.
GM: Camille Ashton

A new, young striker just arrived yesterday, with more announcements to come. But as always, people love a narrative. Even when itβs a false one.
