A japanese copy of bust a groove for the ps1
If you so much as breathe on this disk it's over
Everything is based on the PS1's internal clock sync'ing with audio files as they read live.
If the audio skips, the game desyncs completely. If your burner or laser suck, it's almost guaranteed.
It's funny because our PS1 was more than capable of running my bust a groove rip-- one of the best benchmarks for testing burn quality/laser health imo-- but got tripped up by RPG Maker of all things

So we formed a plan:
1. used tonyhax on the backup to boot the main menu
2. swapped disks, used the real copy to load the demo game menu
3. swapped disks back, and gods be damned we were able to load and play the demo game
They don't make em like they used to
We went to play the PS1 version of RPG Maker but our copy was so scratched it stopped working after loading the main menu once
I burned a backup, used tonyhax, and was able to load the main menu consistently but not the demo game.

Thankfully, it's not a big loss.
I have one fully functioning v1.6 (admittedly needs servicing) and teen me managed to snag each of my og xboxes for under $10 when you could still get deals yard sale-ing.
Tiger and I have been working on reviving our retro gaming setup recently.
Today, I plugged in one of my OG Xboxes and got a fun little jumpscare when it decided to rapidly turn on and off without pressing power.

These kinds of warning screens are not enough. They DO NOT absolve you of the responsibility you have. You still have to put in the work of making your game accessible as much as possible.
Sometimes, these warning screens go by too fast to even be read anyhow. (Arknights looking at you.)
The arguments I have received from the pro-ICE world are โit all happened so fastโ but looking down your barrel through an open window at the side of a personโs head and pulling the trigger is murder.
