Not American, but many of family members were RCAF and I really miss displays, particularly air shows. Reminds me of my being a kid with my dad. I hate crowds/traffic, DMV is always congested so didn’t go. Just wondering if there less crowded areas near a Metro in general to see events in DC? 😬

I recommend a big SD card to hold photos unless you’re checking it often or not much activity.
If you’re worried it might get taken, trailcam locks exist.
If no good spots, zip ties and a metal post works well.
I’ve done a lot of camera trap work, if you have any questions
let me know

I recommend making sure to not have it anywhere near moving grass or a branch or you’ll end up with a hundreds of photos of them triggering the camera when they move and it’s super annoying.
Also lithium batteries will last the longest, and you save battery if you set it to photo only.

Unless you’re looking to find to have high definition nocturnal wildlife and need IR then a lot of the affordable brands would work fine, Bushnell or Browning. The most important factors would be having a good setup (location, camera height) for what animals you’re most hoping to see.

Token salamander pic from my hike last week.
Hopped over from my essentially abandoned ecoevo.social home to many amazing wildlife photographs. But been looking to find more academic and research-based content and an easier way to discover it. Maybe this place is it? Let’s see how it goes …

Agreed, “Grolar” sounds to much like a beer growler, while “Pizzly” is straight up hilarious and catchy.
