The University of Nottingham has appointed BGSβs senior isotope research geochemist, Angela Lamb, as an honorary professor. As part of her role, Angela will contribute to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching alongside facilitating collaborative research programmes between BGS and the University.
Congratulations to NEIF researcher, Francesco Putzolu, whose Economic Geology paper 'Origin of the Jadar Volcano-Sedimentary Li-B Deposit, Serbia' has been awarded the prize for the best Mineral Deposits paper from Young Researchers by the Italian Geological Society: www.socgeol.it/N6807/premio...
So grateful to NEIF for funding this research! The new dates suggest cemeteries started about the same time, rather than gradually spreading from east to west. They reveal funerary practices on the scale of human lifetimes, and raise new questions about how burial rites related to LBK social change

Lovely new paper by @pennybickle.bsky.social and team, using some NEIF funded dates to suggest European Neolithic cemeteries were a short-lived phenomenon. 20 years on, things are still getting shorter! @oxradiocarbon.bsky.social www.cambridge.org/core/journal...
A graphic promoting both jobs. Organic geochemist has the closing date of 25 August and administrator / business assistant has the closing date of 10 August. to the left is a photo of core. To the top right is the BGS logo.

Dr JF Dean (Bristol).
Prof GMF van der Heijden (Nottingham).
Dr AC Law (Nottingham).
Dr D Wright (Newcastle).
Thoroughly enjoyed talking to the students and staff at the Museu de Zoologia at the University of Sao Paulo, about our @isotopesuk.bsky.social Stable Isotope Ecology Lab at @suerc.bsky.social , but also the many ways in which stable isotopes can be used in ecological applications.
