They really hacked it up. That soundtrack is beautiful (with like ten show-off guitarists) and it's hardly in the released movie.

Carpenter shot Ice Cube making out with "straight" Jason Statham and that's not in the movie.

It feels like whatever plot Carpenter had was haphazardly edited out, so it feels like there's context missing.

I still want him to be paid to re-edit the film his way, but between the gender/sexuality flip and the colonization stuff I can't not love the messy version we have.

And, yeah, I can see the Scientologyness.

I think Carpenter threw darts at a dartboard full of words and definitely hit two of them. Lol.
