Huge thank you to @melodyschreiber.com for her excellence in covering our @standupforscience.bsky.social investigation into this pseudoscientific β€œstudy”.

1. RFK jr. MUST be removed
2. Jim O’niell is NOT fit to run NSF
3. This is going to be in history books in the worst light possible.

"Hey, hey, RFK, did you see The Guardian today?"

PS It's not funny, it's horrifying.

The Guardian: Experts fear 'unethical' vaccine trial in Africa is 'prototype' for US studies under RFK Jr.

Danish researchers whose work on effects of vaccines has been called into question are at center of US vaccine policy

Scientists Discover Way To Reverse Chemical Process Linked With Alzheimer’s Disease By watching Alzheimer’s-related protein clumping unfold second by second, researchers have uncovered new clues about the role of metal ions.

This amazing scientific advance may one day lead to either more effective treatments or dare I say perhaps a cure.
This is why it is vitally important to fund basic scientific research.

My interview with @jeremyfaust.bsky.social is now live!

We talked about instability in life as an early career scientist, the importance of policy in research, and more. Process is incredibly important for science, and the process is failing me.

I put a thread of some of my favorite clips below!

Why We Must Remember Women Writers on International Women’s Day On International Women’s Day, PEN America is working to free women writers from the rising threats they face around the world.

Around the world, women writers face risks because of what they write, where they write, or simply just *because* they write. On #InternationalWomensDay, we encourage you to learn more about women writers at risk, and read some of their words. pen.org/we-must-reme...

A reasonable question!

Insurance, fair wages, and benefits give researchers a standard for their personal life where they can pursue β€œbig ideas” and β€œinnovation”.

Currently early career researchers not only have to worry about less opportunities for our work, but also lower standards for living…

I (obviously) think DEI is a moral and ethical imperative. Unis failing to get a firm definition for what does and doesn’t qualify is one of the more disappointing parts of this moment.

Especially for schools where your city is primarily URM people, shouldn’t you care about the people you serve?

Since I’ve been sharing bad news lately, it’s time for some good news.

Got a JIT request for my grant (yes, the one I had to renegotiate twice). Maybe I’ll get to stay in science after all.

Also begs the question, why are universities so afraid of asking procedural questions like the one I did…

The story in question:

Thank you again @michaeldgreen.phd for speaking out.

I don't know what bothers me more:

Director Bhattacharya's callousness that damaging the careers of talented young scientists is "the cost of doing business" for his politics

or

His ignorance and lack of imagination about experimental design.
