Neuronal networks in the dorsal hippocampus causally regulate rescue behavior in mice dos Santos Correa et al. show that exposure to a stressful context promotes the acquisition of rescue behavior in mice and that the dorsal hippocampus is required for this learning. Calcium imaging re...

Thrilled to share that our first study on the hippocampusโ€™ role in helping behavior in mice is now published in @cp-cellreports.bsky.social! This work was driven by an amazing team in my lab, and marks an important milestone for more exciting studies to come!

This paper is the result of the work of many people, Anna Agafonova, Ada Braun, @esmeraldatafani.bsky.social, Charitha Omprakash, and others under the supervision of Dr. @smikulovic.bsky.social . I am very excited for the next steps this group will take over the years.

We also identified a subpopulation of neurons that respond specifically to different intervals of the liberation event. We also investigated which other regions could be future candidates to map out a brain region circuitry of the learning of rescue behavior.

We validated a previously reported rescue task in mice then observed that the dorsal, but not the ventral, hippocampus is necessary for the learning of this task. Using 1p-miniscope, we observed that the hippocampal network becomes more functionally connected each time the mouse successfully rescued

Great critical review of the life of an individual who was a product of centuries of white, European supremacy. May these times never return and better times start.

Chile: Pioneering the protection of neurorights Chile is set to become the first country in the world to legislate on neurotechnologies and include โ€œbrain rightsโ€ in its constitution.

Currently, there are technologies that can directly read the brain, decipher thoughts and feelings, and implant feelings that are not oneโ€™s own

๐Ÿง ๐Ÿ“ˆ I had the privilege to attend #IBNSConnect conference in Tromsoe last week and it was fantastic. I presented data with the rescue behavior task and the role dorsal hippocampus play in the learning of this behavior. My former PhD supervisor presented my PhD data. I watched the sun *not* set.

we should be better at writing papers, clearly be better at maths (Iโ€™m looking at you neuro community). We should engage locally and globally.

When are we good enough? When can we rest? Could we just accept that itโ€™s okay weโ€™re not trained in, and expertly navigate it all?

Now compare that to what works:

Mental health embedded into leadership development

Clear budget and ownership

Real cultural permission to talk about it

Metrics tracked over time

Thatโ€™s where ROI lives.

Too many executives still treat mental health as an HR issue.
Itโ€™s not.
Itโ€™s a leadership issue.
Itโ€™s a business issue.
And itโ€™s a strategic investment that pays off in real, measurable ways. ๐Ÿง ๐Ÿ“ˆ
Letโ€™s talk ROI. #MentalHealthAwarenessMonth

๐Ÿง โœจHow do we rebuild our memories? In our new study, we show that hippocampal ripples kickstart a coordinated expansion of cortical activity that helps reconstruct past experiences.
