Chronically online programmer (full-stack / person most often flung at the weird new tech) and a historian with a PhD because that makes sense. All views my own and not my employer’s (or anyone else’s)

That’s a start definitely. SQL is good to know some no matter what because you’ll probably want to talk to a database to store info on the backend and SQL is still wayyyy more common than NoSQL.
(And I say this loving Python and using it for backend in my work.)
One of the appeals of JS/TS is that you have one language for both frontend and backend. A lot of startups use that approach.
Corporate is often .NET or Java but you also see the JS stack or Python for backend too.
But the JS ecosystem is a friendly entrance to programming in general.
So React is good but understanding JS fundamentals translates to better skill in both backend (ie. node.js) and in browser (ie frontend). React is a framework to try to make maintaining an app’s front end easier but it still uses JS syntax (plus some custom things).
Honestly, you could probably do it with JS (front end and backend) and SQL.
FYI for fellow narrative designers/game writers: the studio in question is Sentona Games and it’s my understanding they are currently interviewing to replace me. Be very careful with them. They were very nice to me and easy to work with right up until I needed the money I was promised.
Kansas just invalidated the drivers licenses of every trans person in the state. They’re being told to surrender their current licenses and get new ones listing their birth sex. No grace period. Get caught driving with your now-invalid license and you’re looking at jail and a fine.
Well I know for sure I’ve been clocked at the new job. Bummer and my failure at voice training among other things.
I love my state

I had to change my name again with my bank to get the system to process correctly. I used my PhD suffix as the change
It’s as bad as Apple and the fact the email you used to make your Apple ID originally exists in perpetuity in their system and you have to be locked out of your Apple ID for like 48 hours to have it fixed.
And like I’m a programmer. This is because some dipshit used the social security number as unique identifier and assumed first names never changed.
Jesus Christ.
So I had Cigna at one point back in my college years decades ago . My new employer, who has never had my deadname, uses Cigna. All good. Yay free to be quiet about being trans.
Now some Cigna system is emailing me under my dead name for every claim. It’s like nails on a chalkboard.

I can’t bring myself to hit “like” for this post. I am so so sorry.

We need a John Sheridan but got Chuck Schumer.
I’ve looked at their curriculum and some videos and I’ve been curious but also wary after so many previous failures. But a plug in their favor helps.
For voice training I have tried working with:
- An SLP
- a musically trained trans woman known for her YouTube lessons (Zheanna)
- An SLP / musically trained coach
- Yet another coach
This since before I started HRT (so over five years). All for no results. Any advice? I am desperate.
I’d had nearly a year of no misgenderings only to have someone misgender me on Christmas and then a phone call that started Ms. and ended with Mr. I’m incompetent at voice training and just like you ordered a woman from Temu.

Like why am I trying? It’s pointless.
To be trans is to work ten times as hard for a womanhood that will always be second best.
It’s been nearly a year since I was misgendered in public. Today getting bowling shoes I just said my size was a 10.
“Men or women’s?”
Dammit.
The world is burning but I also can’t style my hair or work a curling iron and I am so done.
I understand that a lot of folks have been misled by fear-mongering and powerful regressive voices but it’s still astonishing to me that so many have fallen for the idea that oppressively policing other people’s gender identity and expression could in any way be part of an enlightened future.
In honor of the State Department quashing Calibri because it is woke, I would like to make an argument in favor of an alternative via its best advocacy piece.
This worst part about this drivel is that he’s complaining about the uni admin’s minor concessions to demands to rename W&L to honor a non-traitor.
Like screaming about the tiniest concession.
