Real for higuruma ngl
I feel like it was the norm for so long too. This was the first tournament I'd watched in a while and it def surprised me.

Cosmic Princess Kaguya!
I liked it! Not something that was on my radar but watched it with a friend and was pleasantly surprised. I found the plot and characters pretty good, esp compared to a lot of other musical kinda movies

showing not just the navi and people interacting but also the navi and the larger world, it did a lot to make it feel alive and wild. Here every animal is domesticated bar the deep sea squid things and even then blue Jesus controls by the end. That really made the world feel small and domesticated
themes to kind of just continue the story in an eh kinda way. The forest and air settings are also much more visually appealing than the endless blue of the sea backdropping blue people.
Some cool stuff but little to nothing it did better than the original. Something I liked in the original was
Avatar: Fire and Ash
This shit was so ass. The first half is basically irredeemable, and only brief glimpses of what made avatar good in the second. 80% of the characters introduced in the second movie I didn't care about at all, so the time spent on them was kinda a waste. Strayed from the core
Fire and ash? More like belongs in the trash

Kinda wild u chose to end this the day before I get home from holidays
Fr tho this is such a a cool idea I hope it goes well :)
more realistically competent but not amazing sorta thing. The time period is an interesting one, with the world undergoing such rapid modernisation. Katsumodo was I think my favorite part of the movie, and his scene with the emperor where he realized how hollow his title now was was prob my fav.
The Last Samurai
This one surprised me honestly. It started off with I thought two of my movie red flags of "we massacred a bunch of people and now we feel really sad about it :(" and "white guy joins other faction and is really good at everything. The first was somewhat true but the latter he was
Leon the Professional
I liked it :) Been meaning to watch it for like a decade at this point and finally got around to it. Jean Reno was really good, and Natalie Portman's character was good even if I maybe would have preferred the whole her falling in love with him thing to have been dropped.

Fallout S2E5 kinda cooked holy crap it's almost like Johnathan Nolan is good at this shit
Supernatural S1
Honestly a ton of fun. The CGI has sure aged but it just adds to the campy fun. Each episode's supernatural (ha) entity having its own set of rules and powers to figure out gives it a lot more variety to most procedural type shows and really keeps it fresh
(yes I am hella late to it)
It's the yearning + securing someone to share accom with next event tech
Dispatch
Late to the party but it was pretty fun. The romance felt very unrealistic starting out but fleshed out well, and the gameplay was decent. First visual novel kinda game I have played and it was a fun relaxed experience, solid 8/10 and a nice win following a series of let downs
2026 Media thread
(I've been doing very little speed running lately so I actually am consuming other media, crazy ik)
Definitely a me issue, and tracks with my dislike of Sekiro and Nine Sols, but I can't help but feel sad because I was enjoying the story and the 3rd + 4th character's unique mechanics were really cool. That said I'm prob done with the game I cba playing QTE simulator for another 15h

Great game that is more or less ruined for me by the dodge/parry mechanic. Press a button and be invulnerable to all damage kinda makes actually engaging with the (very cool) mechanics each character has because if you can press the take no damage button ur at no risk of losing anyway
You do NOT plan to go outside be so fr right now
And we got Canyon Nidalee so my day is made
Been getting back into it w/ housemate and some friends and this has been such a banger to start off quarter finals
Ez 1 for the moat
Come say hi after too if any of the little people in my phone are at PAX :)
I always forget to post about these things but I'm Melbourne for PAX! Met a couple of cool people at ACMI today too which was pleasant surprise. In a touch under 18h Vi and I will be running HK Blackout TE Rando for ASAP! Very excited, and it will be streamed on the AusSpeedruns twitch as usual
I'm out of town so won't be in this one, but it's a stacked event, tune in if you can. Special mention to the plando at the end too, I was fortunate enough to play test it and it's poised to be a blast
