Yeah. About that.
It never changes, does it?
I vaguely remember a quote along the lines of 'Someone fixated on debating lifeboat ethics on dry land takes joy in imagining himself the officer with the pistol, deciding who lives and dies'. It's a sadists pastime.
Increasingly of the opinion that the correct answer to the Trolley Problem is "fuck you, why are you so fixated on finding reasons to justify killing people?"
I mean yeah. that is just objectively correct. I think my 2 year old would come to the same conclusion
Tsushima strait.

What does this war of aggression have anything to do with “our freedom”?
My fav wackadoodle argument from this one is Clarence Thomas saying Trump should be able to levy taxes like this bc in ye olde england the king could levy taxes. Doesn’t stop at all to think about why that’s problematic. Amazing stuff, 10/10, no notes
A series of silly Tumblr posts. bonecouch starts with a quote: "Blah! It's me, the alien! I'm gonna getcha! I'm the alien!" - the alien from Alien (1979) lesbian-toddhoward comes in with a correction: she never said this. stop spreading misinformation. an-alarming-number-of-bees offers a counterargument: She was thinking it though. powerjock provides a screenshot of a tag someone added to the chain: inner monologue of the alien: hehehehohohehe
one of the all-time greats
The problem with this “sacrifice for our freedom” language is that the Trump administration cannot articulate a single half-plausible reason it did this, didn’t bother to explain to the public it was starting a war in the first place, and has changed its explanation for why three times in a week.
Just FYI if you get stabbed with a thing, don’t remove the thing

As fucked as it is getting our nose bloodied by Iran is the next best possible outcome because it makes it less likely to set the neighbors on fire.
NEWS: Democrat Shawn Harris has forced a runoff in the special election for Marjorie Taylor Greene’s deep-red Georgia seat (Trump +37).
With ~70% in, Harris leads with 38.3% to Trump-endorsed Republican Clay Fuller’s 34.5%.
Runoff set for April 7. A major warning sign for MAGA.
There was a pretty obvious point in 2024 where everybody with any **power** in this country decided “let’s get Trump back in office and just give him everything he wants and hope for the best” and, well, here we are
If you thought China was selling a lot of batteries and solar panels before, you’re going to love what happens next.
Most westerners don’t know this, but in Iranian culture killing someone’s family is considered a grave insult.
is it morally or legally right? no
has it achieved any long standing strategic aims outside of degrading iranian strike assets? no
did any plan go into thinking about the second-order effects of this conflict? no
We can’t even show we understand our own cultural metaphors. This is embarrassing.
US watching a movie where a vigilante’s entire family is wiped out: “Oh yeah, time for fucking vengeance, this dude will never stop. Get them!”
US watching Iran pick a Supreme Leader who just had his entire family wiped out: “This guy is plainly going to be reasonable and fold.”
