We heard powerful reflections on the impact of Muhammad Ali’s legacy in advancing public health and community well-being. And Dr. Goldie spoke candidly about her journey with Parkinson’s disease—a story she recently shared in the New York Times—and the importance of community and connection.
It was a conversation between Lonnie Ali, co-founder of the Muhammad Ali Parkinson Center and the Muhammad Ali Center, and Dr. Sue J. Goldie, the Roger Irving Lee Professor of Public Health.
Last week, I was honored to attend an event on sports, mental health, and fostering a culture of compassion organized by the Black Student Health Organization and open to all at @hsph.harvard.edu.
It was wonderful to meet his family, colleagues and friends, and hear firsthand stories about his extraordinary talent and profound humility.
Yesterday’s symposium honoring Lucian Leape was deeply moving. His pioneering work exposing medical errors has saved countless lives and transformed patient safety worldwide.
