Sound on for geese... Not exactly song birds! 😆

One of these birds is not like the others. It doesn't seem to matter...

The sun has set, the sky is golden. Four geese walk on the remaining lake ice. No sign of green. The trees are bare.

I'm enjoying a sunset after a day of warmth and blue sky. There is still ice on the lake and temperatures were in the low 70's F. Three flocks of canada geese we're flying north during this short hike. You can hear them. Misfit geese to be pictured in comments. #birdmigration #birds #sunsets #nature

Oh dear...

We had temps in the 60's, but there's a chance of snow end of next week.

We couldn't find the beaver lodge. A reason to return. Every hike has something to offer. Once in awhile, it's the people!

This is the top of the furnace where fuel was dropped in to the hot chimney. I didn't fully understand the diagram,however, it appears that as impurities burned off the iron ore fell lower into the hotter parts of the chimney.

This is the lower part of the chimney where the iron was most pure and extracted to be molded.

Canada goose on frozen lake.

Beaver dam looks dam strong!

An old tree stretches parallel to the ground before reaching skyward. another tree seems to be holding it up by its roots.

The motion of the water wheel forced air into the bellows that kept the furnace going.

It's very hard to take video or pictures while walking the dog. I had my phone out to record the sounds of spring when the red of this palliated woodpecker caught my eye. SOUND ON for a plethora of bird calls. #birds #birding #spring #nature

Strange dogs. Our husky doesn't have many common husky behaviors. We've had more snow and she seems to be figuring it out. She moves at a much faster pace in the snow and doesn't want to go home. It's a good thing she's cute.

I cannot wait!
