My hours at work have been cut to 8 hours per week, roughly $730/mo before taxes. I am actively applying for work elsewhere with no luck - retail, custodial, wearhouse packing and shipping, grocery. I am also autistic and looking for career assistance, I am on a waitlist about a year+ long. I have not been able to pay my share of rent ($1000/mo) for a while. I cover utilities (roughly $100-150 every other month), medicine ($95/mo), groceries and pet food ($150-200/wk), phone ($25/mo), and personal debts ($300/mo plus $153/mo to the IRS, usually $715/mo but have not been paying 2 debts since May 2025). I'm doing my best living as cheaply as possible, eating when I absolutely need to and skipping medication doses to stretch my prescriptions, and planning ahead.
