i ended up lying and saying my sister would be staying overnight that first night just to satisfy the midwife, but i know my mam and know if i had developed any problems she absolutely would've been on it like a car bonnet because she's amazing

my mam has been so incredible these last few weeks, looking after me and baby girl, and it makes it all the more annoyed at the casual ableism demonstrated by a midwife who didn't want to let us go home because she didn't think my mam would notice if problems developed due to her visual impairment
