Imagining Dundee: How thoughtful design can shape a sustainable, connectedΒ neighbourhood
Welcome to Dundee, the proposed new community in the Region of Waterloo. Recently, the region shared two possible maps for Dundeeβs layout, showcasing everything from roads and a community centre to bikeβ¦
I hope you had a great #WorldBicycleDay!
I really like @communauto.bsky.social! I hope they expand their services to more rural towns and villages, making it more practical to live with one or no automobiles. Additionally, insurance rates for these vehicles should be more affordable if they are situated in rural areas.
Graphic full of data illustrating the inefficiencies of cars
A typical European car is parked 92% of the time. It spends 1/5th of its driving time looking for parking. Its 5 seats only move 1.5 people. 86% of its fuel never reaches the wheels, and most of the energy that does, moves the car, not the people.
Sound efficient?

Ah, interesting.

Is it a joke that these are all Toronto? Because I have a better serious list in mind. π
Walking did not merely decline. It was deterred.
When authorities were drafting plans for Rochesterβs downtown expressways, few Rochesterians ever drove downtown. The great majority rode streetcars and buses β and walked.

Itβs patently clear that the people in power in this country do not want to end homelessness.
we're super excited for the #bikesky community to have one of the first video feeds on bluesky!
to add a post simply include a video and mention anything to do with bikes in your post or alt text
I took the @bunchbike.com on its first adventureβ¦ and of course I found two other folks riding cargo bikes on Bryant ahead of me. π² β€οΈ
Strange how βmaybe we could make it safer to bikeβ is somehow translated into Every trip across the planet must be made by bike by everyone in every situation.
We need more of these in cities. Arid climates can use these to store water for the dry seasons and wet climates can use these to prevent the flooding of buildings. Any town or city that does this will increase local biodiversity.
Happy New Year, everyone!
I haven't watched the podcast yet, but I would also be on the no side IF the bicycle has pedal assist and/or is limited to 20km/h. Other than that, they get close to electric motorbikes and should be registered as motorbikes are.
I agree. Respecting speed limits, plus many e-bikes have speed limiters already on them.
My final video of 2024 is live! Check it out now!

Oh yes, those signs and old rules.
Have better intersection designs like 3-5m pull in zone for automobiles to be near 90Β° to the crossing and continous crossings for minor streets, as Kitchener is committing to, would be better than signs.
Welcome to @bsky.app but don't look up at the blue sky's too much, you might miss or run into a nice bollard. π
