Google Just Patented The End Of Your Website #MusicTech
If Google's not bothered about JS-rendered pages any more, it's likely because the drift to AIO means actual URLs aren't important so much these days, just the content in them that can be scraped and regurgitated via Gemini.
"SEO is not Dead – but Attribution is"
Personally, I've always been skeptical about attribution since it was shown than 1 in 5 "direct" clicks were misattributed Organic Search.

So, that's $5,000 a second cut to $3,250 a second!
Do you remember when Google said they wouldn't do updates at commercially sensitive times?

⚡ Want to speak at #brightonSEO or #HeroConf in 2026? 🎤
We’ve opened our call for pitches for both our UK and San Diego editions and we’re looking for talks that go beyond “How AI is changing SEO/PPC.”
A lot of this is aimed at Paid Search, but some very interesting points for Organic specialists too.

I know it's easy to scoff: get 100 SEOs in a room and you'll get 101 opinions.
And three of them will be mine!
I've looked for Matt Diggity on Bluesky (and even on Treads), but he's only on Twitter.
I would have replied directly to him but I dumped Twitter 2 years ago and haven't looked back.

But most of this applies to "traditional" SERPs as well as AI – and has done for years!
OFC, there are people out there who are following these mythical “rules” but they’re also building link farms, stuffing keywords, spinning articles (now with AI) and running PBNs.

And as for the Top 10 observation, the idea that SERPs trackers charted the progress of the top 100 placings was always a nonsense, since most of these rankings are changing by the day or even the hour.
In fact, top 10 is so 2015! With the ever-encroaching Position 0, top 3 is pushing it.

Having said that, we’ve always known search engines DO follow no-follow links; it’s just that we’ve suggested they don’t associate what they find at the other end with the link or its anchor text.
But getting 1m links from one or a few sites went away as a ranking factor with PANDA in 2011.

A guy called Matt Diggity has posted a piece on the Hell site about what link-building means for Agentic search.
When anyone uses the phrase "every rule we learned about" I reach for the exit.
Am I alone in thinking – aside from perhaps the no-follow links point – it's yesterdays news?

You don't want to know
The end of the human Internet.
What's in the #BrightonSEO coffee this year?
Don't forget the "Oxford Comma".
First time away from #BrightonSEO for four years, so living it vicariously via BlueSky.
Will catch up when the video bundle hits the shelves.
Should you bother with LLMs.txt?

That's a relief!

CloudFlare CEO Matthew Prince on the death of search traffic in 3 numbers:
10y ago: Google scraped 2 pgs, sent 1 visitor
6m ago: 6 pgs scraped, 1 visitor sent
Now: 18 pgs scraped, 1 visitor sent
AI platforms even worse - Anthropic scrapes 60k pgs per visitor sent.

Well, that's going to be an interesting SERP.
Mind you, with agentic search, it's pretty much the case anyway.
