I feel like a surprising number of the Shudder Originals are actually very good. Unlike a lot of the Sci-Fi Channel Originals from back in the day. If someone who actually likes the genre greenlights things from that genre, maybe you get better things!

Liberals and some moderate conservatives will speak against the war, but only saying how "unconstitutional" it is. How it wasn't approved by congress. Like yeah I guess blowing up all those kids would've been fine if it was by the rules...

Can't stand Baz Luhrmann's work - just totally unappealing on every level. He even seems like a good dude from what I read, but I hate the whole style and the way he does things in this stuff.
These threads are funny because a lot of it is sincere, but then a few posts are just bashing whatever books they think men read. Replying to this stuff bashing whatever caricature in your mind of "male lit fic" is kind of cutting yourself off at the knees.

I hate what's going on in Iran but we'll never get anywhere if people think this is a partisan game and it'd all be OK with a Democrat at the helm. Maybe if that Democrat saw everyone - even non-Americans - as equally human.

Showed a friend MYSTIC RIVER today - hadn't seen this movie in like 15 years probably. I read the book so much over the years and that went so much deeper. But Eastwood does great with this movie. What an incredibly audacious, tragic crime story. I don't think anyone did it as well as Dennis Lehane.

Yeah that's because they got gutted by whatever corporate forces were far above the newsroom.
The murderers of the news are many, chief among them vulture capitalists, big tech, & neoliberal political hacks. But also playing our part were those who wanted other people to labor for us for free, or wanted to replace news with indignation loops. We are complicit. I count myself in this number.

Yeah I don't think you need to write out the accents. Comes off goofy. Make it known where they're from and just write as regularly as possible.
Last three eps of S5 MAD MEN were crazy with how much happens. I think it's a show that gets great drama out of just minutiae of life, ennui, stretches where characters are bored with their lives. It's all pretty timeless and universal when I wasn't sure it'd be either of those things at first.
I've got two seasons left so hoping they really go for broke with the suffering.
It's become a cliche to say things seem like they're made by AI, so I'll say instead that CRIME 101 feels like it's for people who don't usually watch movies.

Yeah I never get this - do they think critics don't enjoy any movies? It's all some weird anti-intellectual push. Very disheartening.
as a lover of b movies & AP, my biggest advice:
the key to a good flick is ✨energy✨, earnestness & commitment. For both b movies & APs, these are actually really hard to get, but without them the whole thing falls flat.

The secret to engaging in social media debate is knowing you will never win anyone over. The best you can hope for is to have people who already agree with tell you you're awesome. You might great a dopamine thrill from the righteousness of your anger! Fine benefits, all. But you will never win.
The "X is just Y" thing has to be one of my least favorite critiques. Lazy way of seeing things.
