It often feels like watching a friend suffer violent mental decline and becoming virtually unrecognizable. I’ve been online since the early 90s and it was a vital playground of creativity and innovation until it got paved over for corporate interest.
Now my kids can’t play like we did. 💔

As someone who went on the Internet for the first time in the early 90’s, I fucking loved the Internet. It has given so many things in life, and afforded me so many incredible experiences.

And to see it, and technology in general where they are today is kinda soul crushing.

This. This this this. I was genuinely a techno optimist at one point. I’ve watched the entire culture around tech change completely since then and so I have too. I don’t hate on stuff because I’m a doomer, it’s because I remember what it was like to see good in it and so often I… don’t… now.
