πβThe evidence is clear: excessive military spending does not guarantee peace."
Rather, "It often undermines it β fueling arms races, deepening mistrust, and diverting resources from the very foundations of stability.β
Do you allow the Inward Teacher to work in you? Are you teachable? β New England Yearly Meeting Queries #3
October 5th is World Quaker Day, and AFM will be celebrating with a display and discussion titled "Love Your Neighbor - Love Our Planet" headed by our Green Group!
AFM's Green Group has had a busy year, most recently planting leafy greens in the new garden tables with one of our youngest Friends!
Today marks the anniversary of the Stonewall riots, which helped kickstart the modern-day fight for LGBTQ+ rights.
In case we haven't said it recently: LGBTQ+ people have always been here, and their lives have always mattered. Happy Pride π³οΈβππ³οΈββ§οΈ
Happy Juneteenth!
Attend a Juneteenth community event! Shop at a Black-owned business! Check out your local library or indie bookstore for books by Black writers! Go to a museum or watch a documentary! Above all, don't give up the fight for freedom and equality because it's not over yet!

Today's announcement that Israel will lift the blockade and allow aid into Gaza is spectacular news.
The weaponization of hunger is one of the most insidious and excruciating forms of violence there is. We hope never to see it used against the Palestinian people again. #ceasefirenow
Quaker Market season is the best season, truly
The best part of being there to help with Quaker Market set up is getting to play with all the cool stuff first.
This year we have been extremely lucky to have a range of instruments donated to the market, like this 1974 hammered dulcimer and gorgeous 1890 parlor organ.
Our thoughts are with everyone mourning the death of Pope Francis. His kindness, deep love for the natural world and everything in it, compassion for our poorest and most vulnerable populations, commitment to peace, and advocacy for immigrants will continue to inspire us for generations to come.
Happy Easter to all who celebrate! We hope you all have the chance to reflect and celebrate with family, enjoy some fine spring weather, and - perhaps most importantly - eat an entire pack of those little chocolate eggs.
Kaitlin Curticeβs Living Resistance is about the many connections that exist across time, distance, and space. Her concern is that we are letting those connections wither to the detriment of us all. And so we must resist in all ways possible.
Wishing all of our Jewish F(f)riends, family, and neighbors a very happy Passover! As you come together to celebrate, feast, and reflect, know that you are in our thoughts and we are sending Light and love your way.
It has been 57 years since Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. was assassinated and 58 years since he delivered his iconic speech "Beyond Vietnam: A Time to Break Silence." His words are as true and relevant today as they were then.
Dear Friends,
In response to this appalling and heavy handed police raid on Westminster QMH a silent, peaceful Quaker style vigil is planned for Thursday 3rd April from 8.30 - 9.30a.m. outside Bridewell Police Station on the junction of Nelson St and Trafalgar Walk in Bristol.
The activist group targeted in an unprecedented police raid on a Quaker meeting house said it had resulted in large numbers of people signing up to take part in a series of new protests starting this week.

Tomorrow will be Eid al-Fitr! Wishing all of our Muslim friends happiness and a joyful celebration with your families!
To those whose Eid celebrations are overshadowed by war and violence, we continue to hold you and yours in the Light and pray for the establishment of true and lasting peace.
Quaker meetinghouses are meant to be safe spaces. We cannot imagine the terror these women felt as police kicked in the front door without announcing their presence and arrested six women holding a nonviolent meeting.
Sending Light to our Friends in London and all affected by this unwarranted act.
If Joan Baez isn't on your Quaker Women's History Month playlist, then what are you even doing?
Don't panic, but it's almost Spring Quaker Market time at the Annapolis Friends meetinghouse and some of us have already begun planning what food to make for the Quaker Cafe
Deeply alarming: This is a flagrant abuse of war powers, βbroadly painting people of a certain ancestry as βalien enemiesβ to manufacture a wartime responseβ & deny them basic due process rights.

This unprecedented and dangerous use of the Alien Enemies Act sets a perilous example that undermines fundamental civil liberties, due process, international human rights, and public trust in the United States military.

True story: Quakers quake not only with fervent faith in the Spirit and our testimonies, but with absolute rage at unjust systems of oppression that deny the fundamental equality of all people βοΈ
