Never felt so seen.
Never felt so seen.
There is no longer a minister responsible for the βuse of research, science and evidence within the Department for Educationβ for early years. Which begs the question: were they using evidence before now?
Now might be a good time to repost this story about what scientists actually know about the complex causes of autism, and what's behind the increasing prevalence.

White House calling for calm shortly before calling autism a "plague" is ridiculous. Like chucking a grenade into a bunker then telling everyone to be chill.
"β¦and Magda Goebbels made a great strudel.β
Seemingly just had a Hitler quote she knows off hand. Bizarre.
Amazing book, great news for a deserving author and publisher
GCSE maths pass rate fell to 58.2 per cent from 59.6 per cent last year www.tes.com/magazine/new... - These are the first children to have gone Y1-Y11 with the mastery maths approach as their entire education, are they not?
Good point, lack of age breakdown here isn't helpful. It's almost 50/50 now for LEA vs academy at primary now, so in my head that's the split as I work in primary. I suppose this could be more children are EHE at secondary than primary.
Question for the teacher types here, why is there such a gulf between academies and LEA schools in number of parents taking children out to home educate?
Fascinating insight from BBC sport pundits predicting the top 4 here. Wonder how they came up with these?
How does one reach a place in life where Nigel Farage can be someone too "woke" for you?
This seems like a really bad idea to me www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...
Exposition like this is what takes a narrative from good to great. So much backstory and detail in a short interaction. #BookSky

I've only read Persepolis of these, but it is very good
It's baffling that this is seemingly not even considered as a solution. It appears to be a fear of being seen as anything other than "tough" on immigration and asylum.
0.33% of the UK budget goes on refugees.
If we managed to stop tax avoidance, we use that money to pay this, and still have about Β£8bn left in change.
But of course, Reform will tell you that refugees are the real scourge of this country.
Bumped into Nigel Farage in parliament today. So...that was weird.
At age 5, children show significant preference for 'in-groups', and begin showing prejudice towards 'out-groups'. Just in case anyone was wondering why schools might have Pride events emphasising the normality of, and acceptance for, different kinds of families. #Pride #EduSky (Aboud, 2003)
It's much nicer on here still, but twitter is giving me some real highlights this evening. Seems Elon is busy burning bridges on the right, whilst also...saying he helped a paedophile get into office. Masterful gambit.
This is the last time I'll hassle anyone for this, but if any teachers (past or present) could please please please spare 5mins to complete my uni of york survey on children's mental health interventions it'd mean the world to me. Closes this week. york.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_... #EduSky
Any and all teachers, any age range too!
One final push as I have to close this next week to start analysis. Can any teachers here please spare 5mins for a survey on mental health and wellbeing interventions for children for my PhD study? Shares also a big help. Thank you! york.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_... #EduSky
Sharing a rather poignant poem on Palestine, longing, identity and belonging by Mahmoud Darwish for #WorldPoetryDay #Palestine
Despite what Alick on Facebook may say, I really can get a meeting with the DfE to discuss mental health and wellbeing training for school staff if enough people contribute to my research (via policy engine and UoY). My 5 minute survey for teachers is here: tinyurl.com/York-Survey

Sometimes see things about how expensive vegan food is. We spend ~Β£120-130 a month on food as a family of 3. This is a week's worth of food (plus dates, soy milk, nooch, spices, and kids cereal bought monthly). Anyways, it's pretty doable on a low budget. #vegan
Dear teachers, I come to you to ask again that you please, please, please take the (roughly) 5 minutes it takes to complete my survey on what it says here, but more broadly aimed at improving mental health and wellbeing for children in schools. #EduSky york.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_...
Ha, had those classes too - this one was blissful, if a little hard not to take personally!
