It’s actually taken many years and a lot of work on my part to separate my belief in God from the weirdos. Like, I could still believe in God and it didn’t mean I was one of them. If you’re at all interested in that kind of stuff I highly recommend doing some deep dives into evangelicalism.
I grew up in the 80s watching videos in Sunday school of the Dome of the Rock getting blown up. People who have never been around evangelicals simply can’t understand how their whole life goal is bringing back Jesus through conflict in the ME.
It is. I spent 20 years as a military spouse and now my husband works as a contractor on base. Plenty of religious kooks in the military. I also grew up evangelical so I’m pretty learned about that group, too.

As someone who grew up evangelical and then spent 20 years as a military spouse, this absolutely happened. You don’t have to believe it but not taking them seriously is how we’ve gotten here. They play the long game well and this has been in the works for decades.

I lived in Bahrain while my husband was stationed there. Our daughter was born there. Sad to see that dependents weren’t evacuated prior to this stupidity. Sad to see we targeted a girls’ school in Iran. Praying for the safety of everyone who doesn’t deserve this.
Was doing some research for a paper on the same bacteria that caused my mom’s abscess and death. The article stated there have been only 12 cases in the literature of abscess in adults caused by Citrobacter koseri. 12. Been sitting here trying to process that.

I’ve been contemplating lately whether I should become a chaplain. I was a hospice nurse and would enjoy helping that community again.
I can tell you the service members aren’t getting that money. We have black mold in barracks and housing. We still have blue tarps on buildings from Hurricane Sally over five years ago. The Blue Angels hangar is rusted out and falling down.

Nothing new for anyone affiliated with the military. My mom had to help me with two surgeries. My husband got to come home for a week for my C-section. My grandpa in WWII missed his dad’s funeral. We’ve been storing a car for a friend for almost two years because of work ups and deployment.
My grandpa was an immigrant who was a Pearl Harbor survivor and fought in WWII. My husband spent 20 years in the military and it took those 20 years of war to convince me we are just shit.
