This is very cool!
A little vampire beech growing in Czech forests 😱
Check out our new paper about birch seedlings, traits, nutrient acquisition and warming in subarctics! 👀⚠️🌳 Just now coming out in Oikos :)

SoilMATs vol. 2: Nematodes 🤩
An awesome week of nematode identification, supervised by Karin Hohberg and her team at Senckenberg Museum in Görlitz. Feel even more enthusiastic for these little creatures than ever before 🤓
(+ VR journey through an earthworm tunnel 😁)

Huge congratulations to your awesome master thesis, Emily!!! So much work, so proud 🎊❤️
More results from our experiment researching non-linear responses of subarctic meadows to warming climate coming soon! 🤩

SOIL MEIOFAUNA ADVANCED TAXONOMY SCHOOL 🤩
Absolutely grateful for this unique opportunity to learn more about Rotifera group at Institute of Soil Biology and Biogeochemistry CAS in České Budějovice! Overwhelming identification indeed but with great teachers anything is possible! 😁❤️🙏

Gagea bohemica subsp. bohemica (křivatec český pravý)
botany.cz/cs/gagea-boh...
One of the endangered species in Czechia. This specimen grows in Větrušické rokle reserve 💚
And what do you want to name to save it? :)
#nameittosaveit @tettris.eu
In biological research, taxonomy is absolutely crucial. But it's becoming more and more overlooked. Let's remind ourselves that knowing the species around us is the basis of understanding the nature.
Taxonomy matters! 💚 #nameittosaveit

New Zealand - the last country in our global study for Threshold ERC project successfully sampled 😍 thanks to everyone who contributed ❤️ @paulkardol.bsky.social
Bye bye, Elon 🤢
Threshold fieldwork in New Zealand.
Let's measure these volcanic transects, from the sparse alpine vegetation to mystical forests 🤩
And some water-graffiti on Racomitrium ☺️

If you've never donated to Wikipedia, now's the time. Elon Musk is attacking it because it's one of the only sources of honest, curated information that he can't control.

So thanks to my dear geeky brother, I became Lego today 🥰🥰🥰
...a bit disturbing is that the ice cave is hiding a skeleton inside. Happy I did not check during the kayaking trip 😅
One of the things I enjoy in ecology is the creativity when developing methods. I mean - look at these beautiful extractors I am using to get nematode inoculum from soil 😜 100% hardware store purchase. And the buckets even perfectly fit to soil sieves. Haha! 😁
Haha. In mine too 😅
And the new Threshold experiment is running! 🥳 So much work done with Kohsuke and Bowen! Fingers crossed for the plants to grow and nematodes to do their mysterious business! 👀 And maybe we will see some cool temperature-related trends! @libw.bsky.social @paulkardol.bsky.social
Making use of every sunbeam ☀️ happy happy 🌊
