It really irks me when people say that Laios being fat is a headcanon. It's quite literally canon and a hugely relevant part of his character that's *explicitly acknowledged in the text*. By denying it, you're really just admitting that you weren't paying attention (nothing new, eh)

There are presumably a lot of reasons why Laios makes himself smaller all the time but I like to interpret it through canine communication lens. Aggressive/dominant wolves carry their bodies high while submissive wolves lower their bodies, heads, and tails... He's trying to appear non-threatening
