Agree in principle. I can’t afford to pay ~£50 a year for more than a few people’s thoughts. And there are times when geopolitical writers should take precedence, others when it’s cultural, etc…

I can’t put this well … a profoundly beautiful book that brought back many memories of childhood listening. Memories…but I heard the songs anew.
Finished it, listened to ‘Here Today’ by McCartney, rarely felt so moved.

'John and Paul: A Love Story in Songs' by @ianleslie.bsky.social is the best book about the Beatles I've ever read and I've read them all! Highly recommended for super-fans and casual fans, alike. Illuminating and deeply moving. (note: the Audible edition performed by Chris Addison is superb).

100%. I'm totally bemused by talk that this has made Andy Burnham stronger. It's where vibes collides with actual politics. He's been the main character for the past few days, and months, (vibes) but is definitively not going to be an MP when only MPs can challenge Starmer (actual politics)
I can't see how this is anything but a bad outcome for AB (who admittedly didn't have good options). Whether his 'legend' grows or not he is now shut out of any leadership challenge this side of an election. bsky.app/profile/gaby...
Right but he would have had at least a 50% chance of winning it (according to polls/those who know the seat). He's now got zero chance - and therefore zero chance of becoming leader.
