Maar zij vangen wel de hardste klappen. Het kabinet legt de rekening bij mensen die niet kunnen protesteren en soms letterlijk geen stem hebben.

Dit zijn laffe bezuinigingen!

Dit kabinet bezuinigt 10(!) miljard op mensen in een kwetsbare positie.

Maar ons voorstel om een deel van dat geld weg te halen door zorgfraude aan te pakken, noemt de VVD “gevaarlijk.”

Getting frustrated myself: they keep explaining me to reset (main) password and how, but telling them I already did, but it doesn’t help (still can’t get into my chat f.e.) isn’t landing. It’s a bug, but they’re not accepting that. The echo chamber is not worth the stress.

Let me try to explain what's happening when the app tells you you don't have permissions for setting a birthdate. Primary Account Passwords When you created an account on the atproto network (likely through the Bluesky app, but there are other on-ramps), you input your email, a password, and a handle. This password is your Primary Account Password. You should use this if you need to administer your account, such as to set a birthdate. In most cases, if you're using the Bluesky app, you should just use your Primary Account Password.”

App Passwords App Passwords were introduced as a way to create passwords for other apps in the ATmosphere (other apps that run on atproto, the protocol that powers Bluesky). App Passwords do not have access to all features of your account, such as updating your birthday. They also don't have access to DMs unless you explicitly check that option when creating a new App Password. The intention with App Passwords is to use them for the apps you created them for. For the Bluesky app, you probably want to use your primary account password. Shared accounts Some organizations and other groups may share an account, and give out access via App Passwords. This is a valid use case. However, the person responsible for the account should still log in with the Primary Account Password and use their birthdate as the account's birthdate. Once this birthdate is set by the owner of the account, users accessing the account via App Password should not be prompted to input their birthdate again.

Conclusion If you aren't able to set a birthdate and are seeing an error like Do not have authorization to set preferences or You cannot update your birthdate while using an app password or This feature is not available while using an App Password, it means you are using an app password. If you do not have your Primary Account Password, you will need to complete a password reset flow. The password you create during this flow becomes your new Primary Account Password, and you should save that someplace safe and use it to set your birthdate.

A lot more people have the same problem. A password reset might help (didn’t try it yet myself yet). It seems that there are two types of passwords. One main, one app password. I can only find 1 password, but the advise is to reset and make sure you use the main one.
