Day 1 @sfruby.com is off to a great start! Really enjoyed the @wnb-rb.dev lunch and getting to meet more people in the ruby community.
π
Made it to #SFRuby at @github.com π
I'm excited to head into the city tonight for the #SFRuby meetup.
Anyone I know going?
I got a ticket! Excited to step into the bay ruby scene π
A screenshot asking ChatGPT: Explain to me like im 5 years old: why is http bad to use and why is https better ChatGPT response: Alright! Imagine you are sending a secret letter to your friend. If you use HTTP, it's like putting your letter in a clear envelope. Anyone who sees it while it's being delivered can read it, change it, or even steal it! But if you use HTTPS, it's like putting your letter in a locked box that only your friend has the key to open. This way, no one else can peek inside or mess with it. So, HTTPS is better because it keeps your information safe when you're using the internet! ππ
My new favorite ChatGPT trick is to ask it to explain something to me like I'm a 5-year-old.
Iβm actually starting to enjoy RoR after years of working with it.
Iβve been revisiting the basics with a mentor and I didnβt realize how much that affects my approach with code.
Can I be your intern?
That organization sound like *:chef-kiss*
Sometimes early morning meetings arenβt so bad when my little coding nook is looking cute.
It's the most monday-iest monday of them all.
I always come back to this when the IS creeps back in.
Ohhhh I love it. Thank you!
I have a fancy google sheet for my sourdough bread. You enter what time you want a loaf to be done, then it will tell you what time you need to start the first step, followed by the time per step.
Iβd love to make an app one day that sends a notification when the dough is ready for the each step.
allllllll my tests are failing today π
I hate yet love, "Explain it to me like I'm a 5 year old" because it's embarrassing but then I usually get it π
If you are new to programming, want to revisit the basics, or want to learn something new, Launch School really has it all. It's clear, focused, with no fluff or hard vocabulary.
I have found such success reading their free online books chapter by chapter.

I am ready for 2025. 2024 has been wild.
I'm in my, "re-learn the basics, I love daycare, cute side project, sourdough" era.
It's one of those Mondays where I am so happy to be working remotely at my silly little desk writing some silly little code.

Wild! I used to work at Academia.edu in 2013-2014 answering their customer support emails in gmail. I would also buy food for all the meetups.
Coding on the plane with no wifi, then coming back to see it locally running is wild. I thought I had it allllllllll figured out π
π so cute
Ruby Conf you were so great! Thanks for such a well ran conference @rubycentral.org
@nmeans.dev ruby conf talk was amazing. I donβt think Iβve ever sat still for a 60 minute talk before.
10/10. No notes.
Iβm at my first #rubyconf and the vibes are so great.
same. it's refreshing πΉ
Most people will say 1 but need 2 π€·ββοΈ
I vote 2.
I'll be in Chicago for Ruby Conf later this week!
Any must do's or favorite places to eat?
