2/2...in any meaningful sense of the term, which arguably there isn't. At any rate, I talk about this in by book "Practicing Social Ecology". Don't let fascists get away with the lie that "America" has roots in a mythological ancient "Western civilization": www.plutobooks.com/product/prac...
Political anthropologist here! Hellenic Athens was largely the civilizational backwater of empires in N. Africa and what we now call the Middle East. There were likely hundreds of self-governing Mediterranean democracies around the time. The people who lived there were not "white" or "Western"...1/2
Pam Bondi loves dogs. Always had them, one after another. She got involved with dog shelters and dog rescue, and once pulled off to the side of a busy road and got out of her car to chase down a stray. Another dog she helped was a Saint Bernard named Master Tank. She adopted him from a shelter after he was lost during Hurricane Katrina in 2005, not long after her own Saint Bernard had died. The story has been told but bears repeating. Master Tank belonged to Steve and Dorreen Couture and their grandson, who was 4, recovering from the murder-suicide of his parents and losing his dog during the storm. Bondi said the dog was a โwalking skeletonโ and โdying from heartwormsโ when she adopted him. The Coutures eventually tracked down Master Tank, but instead of giving him back, Bondi hired a lawyer, who accused the Coutures of abusing the dog, which Bondi had renamed Noah. โShe lied,โ Dorreen told a Palm Beach Post columnist years later. โMy little grandson begged her to take the dog home, and she refused. She thought she would just wear us down. That we were unstable people and would just quit.โ The case was settled out of court, with Bondi securing visitation rights, but she never did visit. She got another dog.
This is some genuinely psycho shit...

...started building a network of concentration camps in almost every state, and revealed plans to terminate/take over federal elections, all while waging war on Minneapolis. That's only in the last 4 weeks.
...3 million files were released exposing a global, cannibalistic, murderous snuff ring involving supreme court justices, captains of industry, ambassadors, and multiple US presidents, including the sitting one, the US allied itself with Al Quaeda in Syria and sold them our regional allies...
And to think, this was written almost a year ago. In the last four weeks, the U.S. has invaded Venezuela and kidnapped their head of state, attempted to invade Greenland, summarily executed multiple unarmed citizens in broad daylight, the president shat himself during a press conference...

In other words, if we are ever to have "democracy" again in this country, it will be created directly by us, the people.
Citizenship must be recreated and afforded not according to the exploitative and arbitrary desires of the state, but to every single person who lives in and contributes to our communities on a daily basis.
And in those new institutions, ordinary people must have a say not only about community safety, but also about the local economy, housing, healthcare, schools, land use, and infrastructure -- the whole buffalo!
More often than not, they are active collaborators. We cannot let this shock or demoralize us. We must channel our righteous fury, courage, and determination to recreate our political institutions.
Minneapolis is teaching us that now is the time for people's assemblies and neighborhood unions. We cannot wait. Mayors and governors will stand by (at best) and watch their constituents get beaten, abducted, and killed.
Now imagine the pen doubles your electricity bill, destroys gallons of fresh water with every use, and convinces you to kill your mom ๐ญ

They're using the confinement box, one of the most horrific methods of CIA torture in the post-9/11 black sites, against migrants now. This is the direct result of the lack of consequences for the architects of the torture program. Either there will be criminal penalties for this or it will expand.
