Tbh I am wondering how Silver+ and Top500 players are in Div9 in LUTI. Yes, their tourney results might not be insane. And yes, we even won games and others were close. Still, it's Div 9 y'all. (Also, how tf are we the better seed? lol) #compsplatoon

LUTI to Discontinue Division 6 For Season 17 Ahead of Season 17 of Leagues Under The Ink ("LUTI"), organization staff have surprised the competitive Splatoon scene with the decision that there will be no Division 6 for this season. Tournament organizer toasty announced: "Though final details of LUTI seeding are still underway, we want to make an announcement about a major change for Season 17. This season, there will be no Div 6. Division numbering will skip from Div 5 directly to Div 7, so please plan accordingly."

Popgun, longtime member of the LUTI Seeding Council that places teams into divisions, added, "there just weren't enough teams at the Div 6 level this time around. We started the seeding process by putting Los Inklings in Div 5, as always, and we found plenty of teams that we would place at the same level. However, with fewer Div 4 teams than usual, we had enough room for those who offered the biggest bribes in exchange for a Low Ink ban." Popgun continued, "it was clear to us immediately that we could easily take all of the teams in that Div 5 to 7 range and put them neatly into one or the other. With no one in between, running Div 6 at all this time around just didn't make sense." Later the same day, Discord user Stormy12345 posted a thread in the LUTI server's Helpdesk forum, suggesting that Div 7 be renamed to Div 6-7. This was immediately rejected by every member of LUTI staff in the replies, before the thread was marked as resolved.

No joke it should be A Concern for the community that the ratio of cis men to *everyone else* skews more and more towards cis men with every div you go up. This isnt like other communities where marginalized people arent present at all, so it isnt a pipeline issue. Its social and cultural.
