'Trans/Rad/Fem' is LIVE ON ITCH NOW!!!
In seriousness I hope that in 2025 we can see a revival of a feminism worth the nameβone committed to the eradication of rape, sexual harassment, abortion bans, domestic violence, femicide, and all the other violence and indignity imposed on women because they are women.
a score of 170 on the RAADS-R test
this is what i got in october 2023.. i think i aced it :p
a meme, of Jason Mendoza from The Good Place, leaning against a poster of Ariana Grande, with a photo of Antonio Gramsci superimposed on her face, and saying βOh, Antonio [originally, Ariana], weβre really in it now.β the caption quotes Gramsci, saying ββ¦the old is dying and the new cannot be born; in this interregnum a great variety of morbid symptoms appear.β
:\
the thing about critical media consumption is that it gets soo tiring.. sometimes i just want to be entertained and feel good without looking at what the goals are, what is being depicted, what is being normalised, who does it benefit, what is it in opposition of and why ;-;
I think this essay is one of the most important essays re. gender theory ever written. I have been reading it over and over and I think you should all read it too (and support Talia's work).

there are other factors for sure, but, imo, understanding how and why the cispatriarchy is interested in perpetuating the gender binary on the basis of a fictional intrinsic characteristic; and how borrowing ideas from, say, intersectional feminism can reduce the amount if transphobia it is prone to
this is just a criticism of its shortcomings, where i think it must be improved, an observation that worries me, personally, for how it targets me and my trans and gender non-conforming siblings, and my thoughts on how and why it has come about.
this is not to say that radical feminism should be rejected, hated, attacked or whatever. i like its radical potential, how it tends to reach and radicalise more people than other approaches to feminism. i do not hate it, because our goals, to destroy the patriarchy and end oppression, align.
be it people like JKR, or the average TERF, or the 4B movement (see the firsthand account of a korean transwomanβs experience in the movement), radical feminist movements have a worrying tendency to incorporate and sanction transphobic and transmisogynistic acts, attitudes, beliefs and rhetoric.
βand not a binary, not some undefiable intrinsic characteristic that separates people into two distinct, non-overlapping, rigid categories.
there are predators, sure, but their existence does not justify transphobia, a rejection of transsexuality & the trans experience, or transphobic violence.
β evil is not natural, but the result of a process.
in essence, radical feminism seeks to flip the script, but, still, uses the same script, without utter rejection, without analyses of its mechanisms or why/how gender is a social construct, without writing a new script wherein gender is a spectrumβ
because the system churns out incredulous amounts of misogyny, oppression and men perpetuating this system, it is easy to mistake patriarchal, misogynistic and oppressive tendencies as an inherent characteristic of all those deemed to be men, rendering everyone seen as a man inherently evil, but β
the cispatriarchyβs reasoning, that men are superior to women because of some intrinsic, unchangeable property that distinguishes and hierarchises the two is, imo, eerily similar to the position that men are bad BECAUSE they are men, in ignorance of the system, its intricacies and its functioning.
i believe a lot of the transphobic and trans-exclusionary rhetoric that tend to prop up in radical feministic movements is a consequence of the cispatriarchal naturalisation of its description of gender, being some genetic/biological property, and its conception of gender as a rigid binary.
a quick thread on radical feminism, transmisogyny and transphobia
If your only trans liberation knowledge comes from Pills That Make You Green, you can level up by visiting @enkiducoin.bsky.social 's profile and looking at some of her work.

(The real explanation for this behaviour is they don't care. They do not care because they're not the ones who'll be affected. Everyone the trump admin kills is someone the democrats can perform shock and outrage over for funding while not intending to actually do anything about it)
sigh
the worst part is that its a cyclical thing and i have an idea whats causing it and how to potentially fix it but the means are not accessible so im just. stuck like this :c
