Great choice. I loved this when it came out.
Great choice. I loved this when it came out.
I really like this one.
It's no Blood on the Tracks but for me is maybe his most underrated album.
I was lucky enough to be at Sounds from a Safe Harbour in 2023 to see this beautiful song performed a few days after it was written.
This performance is a beautiful tribute to Eoin French who passed away in September.

This is going to be nearly impossible. π
Thanks Rich.
Great showing from Sprints
I had Doechii and Adrianne Lenker in my #5albums24
You are not aloneπ
I doubt it. When was he last productive?
@stevenhyden.bsky.social something there is about you featuring MJ, yo la tengo, Steve shelley
There was a lot of great music to listen. π
It really is and probably should be much higher, but there was so much great music this year.
And if any cares, here are numbers 6-50
This was a tough one!
Here are my #5albums24
I'm just going to listen to it now. This could set the cat selling the pigeons of #5albums24 for me!
It's almost unclassifiable but maybe that's why Night Reign by Arooj Aftab was one of my favourite albums this year
#5albums24
It's great-a low-key high point of late era BPB for me.
Seeing him live for the first time was a highlight of the year too.
WHO AM I by BERWYN is angry and beautiful. It's going to be in my #5albums24 - the only question is how high.
I'm a big Nick Cave fan but I seem to be in the minority and just haven't been able to get into this at all.
Maybe it's the Dave Fridmann but it feels overblown and lacking subtlety to me.
It really is a pretty extraordinary record.

It is.
I heard (and loved) the first album but I missed the release of this one completely.
Both of these will just miss out on my #5albums24 but it's great to hear Kim Gordon and Alan Sparhawk sounding so fresh and innovative, so deep into their careers.
I've only discovered this in the last few days from someone's recommendation here. Really enjoying it.
I can't decide if $10 Cowboy by Charley Crockett or Passage du Dedir by Sturgil Simpson/ Johnny Blue Skies was my favourite country album of the year.
#5albums24
I narrowly missed seeing them live this year but I keep going back to Dance, No One's Watching by the Ezra Collective
#5albums24
I only discovered Doechii recently from her feature on Tyler, The Creator's album and her Alligator Bites Never Heal is a terrific album.
#5albums24
I know it is more of an EP so maybe it doesn't qualify for #5albums24 but I loved Drop 7 by Little Simz
2024 has been a really strong year for Irish music and Sprints got it off to a great start with their debut in January.

Beth Gibbons - Lives Outgrown
It doesn't quite reach the heights of Out of Season but still a great album.
It won't be far from my #5albums24
