Yup, absolutely, I am aware of the difference between the two and how each works and I cleared it up with the friend who asked the question.

I just figured I might go directly to the source for examples since you're always happy to respond. Greatly appreciated!

@franklinleonard.bsky.social Hey Franklin. Any scripts come to mind?

This might sound harsh but, when you have a great premise it's really difficult to write a bad logline and when you have a bad premise it's really difficult to write a good one.

So if you're having problems writing a good logline, that should tell you something about the premise.

Just write.

I owned a medium sized business and I don't want to be responsible for what 50+ human beings do ever again in my life.

I want to do my job and move on to the next one.

It is!

I hated it when it came out (in my defense I was 14) but it is by far my fav Kubrick now.

My annual weird Christmas double feature is Batman Returns and Eyes Wide Shut.

Like flashbacks they have to really earn their place. Most of the time they don’t.

It’s either a tell don’t show exposition dump or some wannabe philosophical musing that gets in the way of the story.

Same thing happened to me and Fury Road. I rewatched it for a hundredth time a day ago and realized the only reason why I don’t call it the greatest film ever made is cause it’s relatively new so I push against recency bias but yeah, for me, it’s the greatest movie ever made.

I also love Barbie!

After I vomit draft a scene and before I begin to rewrite it, I always ask myself:

I honestly believe that’s the way to break in.

Write for yourself, write the movie you would be the biggest fan of if it was made without you, send it out to the world and then people either like it or they don’t.

But they will.
