Yeah, we've been off the rails for a while.

For those who don't know, Piper is highly esteemed by people in the Christian nationalist camp. If Piper has lost his audience, then we are truly off the rails.

This is a rhetorical study in miniature. By defining immigration (documented and undocumented) as an "invasion," pundits and operatives on the right changed the debate into one where normal rules of right and wrong don't apply.

I was roommates with an English major who ended up being a physician. For a med school recommendation for one of my UNC journalism students I asked him the impact of his English major. “It taught me to listen & to empathize with patients & to understand their needs, including emotional ones.”
