Tidal Cycles/Neovim: No Plugins, 24 Lines of Lua I made a simple, easy-to-maintain way to do “algorave” musical live-coding from Neovim, without needing to depend on other people's plugins staying updated.

I wanted to understand my tools better, and I figured out how to do algorave/livecoding with Tidal Cycles from Neovim with no plugins and just a bit of my own code!

It was a fun project, and it's reassuring to know I'm able to do that on my own.

That's just for Chromium-based browsers. The manifest v3 extension format didn't allow for functionality that uBO needed, and Chromium dropped support for manifest v2, but Firefox continues to support manifest v2.

If you're on iOS, AdGuard is a good ad-blocker for Safari. It's what I used before switching to GrapheneOS.

GrapheneOS has a web installer (grapheneos.org/install/web) that makes things extremely easy — I would even recommend this to a non-technical user.

Also, (addressing people in general) while stock Android is worse for privacy than iOS, GrapheneOS (if you have a Pixel; this is what I use) or LineageOS (other models) don't require signing in to Google, and GrapheneOS adds very good security hardening.

uBO works on Firefox for Android! The article focuses on phone apps, which are the worst offenders, and using the phone's browser instead helps, but as far as I understand, ad tracking is still a problem on desktop web browsers.

This is a reminder though to add: use browsers (/adblock) over apps!
