Begin oktober valt het doek voor ICR, ofwel de Intercityrijtuigen van NS, die vanaf begin jaren '80 ingezet zijn op veel verbindingen binnen Nederland, maar ook naar België en andere buurlanden. En zelfs als Fyra hebben gereden na het fiasco met de Italiaanse treinen. Een klein draadje.

Sleeper to Bayonne may be cheaper. From there, one can take a local train to the border (Hendaye), then Euskotren Topo to San Sebastian and renfe to Madrid.
In that case only the "line 26" corridor should be included...
All depends where you live and where you go of course. Metro doesn't cover all parts of the city. I wonder if one could squeeze in parts of the S-train network as well...
