Take a look at the list of reinstated grants - it's not even the tip of the iceberg. The NS premier thinks we're all stupid.

An Edward Gorey drawing showing a morose looking black bird on a branch. He (and this feels very much like a he) is pointing downwards with one scraggly wing, and looking straight ahead with debt-filled eyes. His beak is long and sharp, like winter on the Great Plains. He is pointing with his right wing, but this means he is pointing to your left. Your wicked, sinister side. This is no accident. The Bird makes no such mistakes. But he is talking, and the text tells us that he is saying, "Beware of this and that." Honestly, you feel his message in your bones.
Some days I just feel like this Edward Gorey bird gets it.
The cover is an illustration of a woman with tendrils (lichen?) emerging from her mouth, backdropped by a light green circle haloed around her head.

Also shoutout to Jude for being like "dang my cousin is wearing men's clothing...........hot tbh."
Eighth Famous Book of 2026: Jude the Obscure, by Thomas Hardy.
This was a very uncomfortable book to read as a newlywed, given the givens. But in the way of the best tragedies, it is simultaneously miserable and deeply satisfying. You hate the ending and know it couldn't end in any other way.
That was the exact vibe!
Depends on if you mean what inspired the story or what inspired me working there!
The story: Not solely but at least partly all the used tissues scattered about on the floor there.
Me working there: Broke grad student who refused to take "store posting hiring ad on Kijiji" for the red flag it was.
There was a rub'n'tug in that building previously, so we would occasionally get sailors who had not been to the city in a long time coming into the store and standing at the counter in a very obvious, hopeful way until we gently told them that handjobs were no longer offered on the premises.
Of course, Nova Scotia just eliminated a program that did exactly this.
I was fired because I forgot to put a customer's rental DVDs in the cases! Dude got home and didn't have any of the porn he paid for. Oopsies.
Writing a horror story loosely based on the porn store I got fired from when I was in grad school.

A recent Atlantic column claimed society is allegedly "transing" effeminate boys. For my @xtramagazine.com column this month, I wrote a rebuttal using my own experience as a young, closeted trans girl. xtramagazine.com/power/identi...
"ONLY HAD ONE CHEWBACCA IN IT NEGATIVE FIVE STARS."
βUnmissable. Morris will have you wondering how everyone you know and love would taste with a little rosemary and garlic. Sensuous, alien, and perversely mouth-watering. A skin-crawling delight.β

Commentary: I Am The God Of Your Children. I Am The Final Parent.
How I think I'm writing: Using eye contact, or lack thereof, to display emotions such as intimacy, shock, denial, or nervousness. How I'm actually writing: She looked at me, and I looked away. I tried to look back, but she was already looking at the sky. "Look," she sighs, looking back at me for a split second. "I don't know how to say this." We looked at each other and time stopped, but then she looked her lookers at something else to look at, looking tired.
This is an excellent rule for storytelling but also implies that Philip Pullman witnessed the death of God as a boy.
international Womens day to the best undead mare!
Rewatched The Craft tonight and man, Fairuza Balk seems to be in a different, better movie than all the other actors.

Look, I get it: "Most embarrassing Nova Scotia cabinet minister" is a really competitive category right now.
But save space on your ballots for Education Minister Brendan Maguire, who gets absolutely bodied by @michaeltgorman.bsky.social in this clip for so-funny-it's-sad student bus pass math.
