Had a similar conversation when I was part of a pan-european group helping launch the North Sea Cycle Route. A chap grabbed his own waistline spare tyre (not that big) and said, 'I'd need to lose weight here before I lose anymore on the bike'

Glasgow seems to be very good at destroying its built heritage, back in 2014 we had then Minister Keith Brown celebrating the destruction of some tenements, he called them time expired, even though folk had been living in them....others would possibly describe that corner lot in the same way

You wouldn't have a jury in any case at a civil matter would you? This is an argument against jury trials if anything? If you'd had a jury you might have lost!

The company I worked for carried out studies on this, we made recommendations to reduce stops in some cases. A bus stop may be put in place on a street because a factory building existed there that no longer exists for example, bus stops can be abtrarily located on occasions.

We were in Woolworths in Grays, one of the two town big shops back then, Marks and Sparks were next door. The lights went out mid afternoon, everyone groaned, then all the ancient gas mantles flickered and came alight. Woolies still had those in place and obvs working. Everyone cheered.

Anatomy of a Vanishing Review Why did Gutter magazine remove a Book of the Month review of Afterlife?

Scottish poetry culture has learned nothing from the hounding of Jenny Lindsay.
Polly Clark is a wonderful poet, and a fine novelist. Profohndly depressing that a publicly funded (by Creative Scotland) journal will not publish a positive review for the wrongthink of the reviewed author.

Seems to work in parts of europe where none jury trials take place. I suspect if one is white juries are preferable, it makes me shudder to think of the injustices that must have taken place in the past with a PoC colour appearing in the dock before a jury made up of lots of white folk.

in favour of drivers so should also be removed. The magistrate ignored the recommendation of the foreman (who in my opinion should have been removed). I'd much rather legal professionals decided my fate than a bunch of folk off the street with all their petty prejudices and greivances.

A person I know attended jury service & arrived on a bicycle, the foreman of the jury attempted to have them removed. The foreman felt they may be biased toward a cyclist in a case, the juror who arrived by bike pointed out that the rest of the jury were drivers (as was he) and likely to be biased

The FT endorses LTNs, better for the environment, for society and adds a premium to your property value. FT Weekend 7/8 March.

Blood bikes are amazing, they carry blood to victims of road traffic collisions sometimes, cycle lanes are known to reduce the likelihood of RTC's. Are blood bikers so blind they cannot see a conflict here, reducing road safety provision to promote the blood bike scheme?

Erm...I do understand that, that's why I find him and his questioning style creepy.

Odd that you can't seem to understand that.

His preferences for oddly personal question and the type of people he interviews.

If Britain needs anything it's more rail capacity, this cancellation is a disaster and will shape and ultimately inhibit the UK's sustainable economy for generations.

Felicity, I only watched a few of his shows and found him creepy, his choice of subjects was clearly carefully selected to suit his personal metrics.
