I hope everyone who checked out @hogg.bsky.social’s white paper on the implications of LLMs in astronomy and shared it across slack channels similarly perused and amplified this white paper of best practices for broadening participation in astronomy!

I recently turned forty-five, which means it's time for my colon cancer screening. Because I have no family history of colon cancer and am of average risk, my doctor prescribed the Cologuard test (which I was amused to see is made in Madison, WI; go Badgers!). It was super easy to do.

It’s spring break, so I only worked a couple of days this week. Got my head around some paper revisions. And then on my days off I had a wonderful combo of relaxing and errands / getting stuff done around the house

πŸ’― I’m like 80% sure I know when to log on for a mostly-European telecon Monday morning

🚨🚨🚨Warning: most of the US changes our clocks by an hour on Sunday … starting a few weeks of telecon scheduling confusion (clocks in Europe move on Mar 29)🚨🚨🚨

This place is getting much worse for alt-text recently! Include it for your own images and don't repost images that don't have it (except to add alt text yourself if you feel it's important to share it anyway).

Gross. Personally I’m not a fan of tipping culture, so I’d much rather just be charged more for my [meal/pedicure/whatever] and have the person serving me earn a living wage

Column | We’re about to turn night into day. Is that a good idea? Proposals before the FCC involve mirrors that could bathe entire cities in sunlight and, from SpaceX, a million satellites to serve as data centers.

Have I complained here about this (unimportant) issue before? πŸ—£οΈ A number should never start with a bare decimal point; always put a zero first! (E.g., 0.26 instead of .26)

Throughout the years, there has been a constant increase in the publishing costs of journal publications.

Throughout the years, there has been a constant increase in the publishing costs of journal publications.

This article is really interesting! I appreciate the effort to survey the literature.

But section 3.3 is really misinformed.

For instance, except for the shift to open access (which mostly just shifted costs) AAS Journal costs have gone *down*, not up, over the years.
