Yes please! I am a self-advocate but trying to mix with other queer advocacy groups can be demoralizng because my autism is often read as insincerity. If more of us take up space, the easier it will be?

Because eventually that will be necessary, and "let's bury our heads in the sand and hope we become obscure again" isn't realistic in any way. We've gotta start organizing and teaming up with our allies (queer groups, neurodivergent groups, etc.) that we are heavily intermixed with

As different facets of alterhumanity gain more of the public eye with each passing year, the more I ask "Ok so, what are we going to Do sociopolitically. When are we going to organize and start advocating for ourselves".

It sucks how even disabled folk shame one another for being "too" happy with our disability, for wanting to be desired, etc... Huge issue for sure.

I love being autistic and my disabled body, even in spite of what makes living difficult. Everyone deserves a body they're happy with.

I don't have biid but considering my transition involves the removal of my limbs to be replaced with artifical creature ones, I vaguely understand that euphoria. I'm not sure why people treat biid/bid so differently other than because they saw some reactionary "documentary" about it.

Reminder that the therian comm. in traces its roots to alt.horror.werewolf in the 1990's. Adults (including adults who have sexual relationships with other adults and who logically have their own porn/kink preferences) have always been here. This is v strange discourse, especially coming from furs.

My background is largely "furry", more so a decade long slow burn into realizing I'm nonhuman. Though because I had a furry upbringing, so to speak, when I hear "furries are still human" and etc... I think "they mean me" and flashback to the same dysphoric tune of "but I'm not human!" Ahgg...

It's probably just the words being used, and nothing more is meant by it? Bipeds are often described as "anthro." To be "anthro" means to have "human attributes" (I've stopped calling my biped form anthro even if a little pedantic) So going by definition, maybe thats where some discomfort lies.

I consider both my feral and bipedal forms 100% nonhuman, so it's always interesting seeing feral/biped treated as mutually exclusive much of the time. I get why, it's simply more common. And even though I'm an outlier to most "furries", I can't help but feel othered by nonhumans as well.

ok i'll bite. it's kind of disheartening how therians will very often treat furry as if it's a mask, a costume, a performance

when like. i'm an /animal/. maybe i'm not a *feral* animal; my ideal form walks on two legs. it has anthropic characteristics. it's toony and not realistic but i'm not human

furthermore denying physical shifting experiences as not being based in reality closes off critters who might experience such from several different cultural practices , magik, etc, as well as ppl who might just genuinely be fucking werewolves

anti physical nonhuman rhetoric from other therians is infuriating, how is it so much further of a leap for some animals that some of us are not human by any means . calling that delusion and shutting others out negates including others who *are* having a nonhuman experience

I keep saying it, but furries are a queer subculture, and conservatives have been targeting them with actual bigotry for decades now. This thread should horrify any LGBTQ person. This could happen to any young queer person.
