So, the people who've been putting Bibles in classrooms, the Ten Commandments in courthouses, and legislating away women's rights to their bodies are suddenly worried about the mixing of politics and religion, huh?

Yes…this. No words.

Everybody needs level-headed friends who give constructive advice. But everybody also needs feral friends who feed you margaritas while you vent and vibe off your energy until you both just wanna burn it all down. It takes a village.

Trump is attacking a bishop for suggesting that he show mercy to fearful people, the marginalized, immigrants, and children.

Yet, Trump pardoned 1500 convicted felons, including those who violently attacked police officers.

This tells us much about what to expect going forward.

Imagine how different things would be if we saw theology, not as a construction site, but a laboratory.

Instead of setting doctrines in concrete, we'd test theories. We wouldn't hold to the past in fear, we'd lean into the future with curiosity, wonder, and possibility.

We are having a prayer service and brunch at Salem so folks can share our hopes and fears and and be with each other. No tv coverage tomorrow!

King Day is 1/20. And it is the inauguration of DJT.

They represent the furthest poles of American faith. The universality, compassion & liberation of King stands in prophetic judgment against the exclusivism, cruelty & authoritarianism of the “Christian” nationalism of DJT.

Regretfully, yes. Union busting, merger after merger, deregulation, Christian fundamentalism, paranoia, delusion, chaos, Reagan, corporations as people, oligarchy…how do we ever rid ourselves of Amazon? WalMart? This was intentional and it will take a revolution to undo it.
