Way of Kings definitely has some pacing issues. It’s still a great book but it’s got the worst pacing of the series.

there are many queer characters, but more so in his recent work. an interspecies queer romance occurs between two of the narrators of his most recent book.

sanderson has cited final fantasy as an inspiration before, so they’re not likely all coincidental

that’s an… interesting comparison. i love jane austen but they write entirely different books. you need a thousand pages when you’re writing a massive fantasy epic with like 20 different narrators and multiple different magic systems

it’s really funny to me how people have recently started complaining about BS going “woke” as if a group of low class nobodies starting a rebellion against a classist tyranny was not the plot of his most famous book from 2006.

i’d say so. i would recommend at least playing inquisition first, the events tie into it a lot and you’ll get some added enjoyment. VG is a very flawed game but overall a good experience.

red rising is great. i’d say the first book is disappointing and the fourth is just bad. but it’s a fantastic series overall. book two is one of my favorite sci fi books ever.

1) absolutely. my favorite author to date. his prose isn’t anything special but the guy can tell a hell of a story.
2.) yes, mistborn is a great place to start, in fact, it’s the recommended starting point for the cosmere.
