(3) ‘Er Indoors said “Yes” and we’re getting married. I was down on one knee (I’d dropped a fork under the table) and my intentions might have been misconstrued. But that still counts, right?

(2) The publishers must have looked at the #CharlesHolborne series, because they’ve now offered a multi-book contract for a present-day legal crime series set in the US (Charlie goes to America). And then…
(1) The start of 2026 has been special. After years of rejection of my spec fiction title What’s Left of Us (on the query letter and synopsis alone) two publishers read the full MS and both offered. 2 from 2. (Note to self: must improve pitching skills.) And then…
From today, the Crime Writers Association will no longer be posting on X.
The safety and wellbeing of our members is always our priority, and following ongoing concerns around user safety, privacy, and recent AI-related issues, we’ve decided to step back from active use of this platform.
Yay!
I'll be appearing at the first ever Cheshire Crime Writers Festival - 2 days celebrating all things crime, literary, murder mystery, police procedural and cozy.

Thank you! Two more await you, and I’ve just finished writing a fourth.
@thedecentbrief.bsky.social just finished NOTHING BUT THE TRUTH. Brilliant read as always #booksky
Thank you, sir!
Hope you enjoyed it Mr Curnow!

Just a simple “Thank you” to those who’ve taken the trouble to review “The Fall Guy.” Less than 3 weeks since the audiobook came out, and over half a century of 5* reviews. You’re all lovely!
I was lucky. My old publishers (now bust) got a deal with Colin Mace, who also voices “big” writers like Andy McNab. I recommend finding a voice actor with their own following and then if it’s too expensive to commission them, offer a royalty-share. Double social media opps & can be v profitable.
PS: Any chance of a review on Audible?
Probably not. Book 11 is well under way, although you may be in for a surprise…
You might be the very first reviewer then (be gentle with me).
Several lovely listeners have asked when the next #CharlesHolborne books is available on Audible. The answer is: NOW! shorturl.at/5xuqO.
Out now!
It'll be National Crime Reading Month in June, and most UK crime authors are involved. I'll be at the Lymm Literature Festival. #readingcrime
Next week or two. Waiting on Audible. I’ll post something.
Ebook and Audible on 27 June, paperback a couple of days thereafter.
Thank you @saperebooks.bsky.social!
I’ve written 16 books and never appreciated I was following an adjective order (though I’d never use more than a couple in any description)!
Hi Sam. I’m (so they say) “the British John Grisham” with 9 legal crime thrillers published by Sapere Books and the 10th due out shortly. Always follow your useful advice (though as I don’t have any say over marketing, it’s more for the back pocket in case I ever self-publish).
Great track. Battle of Who Could Care Less is even better.
That’s magnificent!
No one gives a genuine 1* review. It always signifies animus. I always console myself that it demonstrates to potential purchasers that the 5* reviews are more likely to be genuine.
