Last night, after 65+ open letters by Iranian-Germans urged Germany’s Federal Public Prosecutor to investigate the regime’s brutality against peaceful protesters, I spoke to WDR (Cologne, in Persian) explaining the legal basis, consequences & importance of such an investigation.
Applicants spend days preparing applications; time that could go into research and writing. At a minimum, institutions can send a simple notification about the outcome.
"For me, as for millions of Iranians, this struggle is not political. It is existential. The first thing the Islamic Republic did, like any totalitarian system, was take away our right to live."

Wrapping up 2024: This week, I had the chance to teach remotely at Shahid Beheshti University in Iran as a guest lecturer.
I joined Dr. Mahnaz Bayat Komitaki’s Public Law class, talking about the State of Emergency and Rule of Law. Such a rewarding experience!
