Since I'm seeing many conversations around the primaries, sharing an info guide on primaries and a link to review the candidates on the ballot for the IL #primaries on March 17th.

It's like we can't go even a few years without being embroiled in yet another war...π« π€¦πΎββοΈ
Ugh...π€¦πΎββοΈThis is what happens when companies are not beholden to any regulatory oversight or restraint. This should not be happening.
The sound definitely feels like you're spiraling... Not for me personally. Though give me the slowed, reverb versions or remix mashups, and I'm golden lol.
One thing I can say is, when it comes to quick mass recruitment, retention is oftentimes a disaster. Even recently, in the instance where some ICE agents didn't get the bonuses they were promised, agents ended up quitting soon after (supposedly).
Still disappointing to see so many join, though.
Our federal government killed a disabled genocide survivor and is covering up for a child rapist. And that is just todayβs news. It is just unconscionable to be treating this as normal or acceptable in any way.

Per your words, you even see how the academy is still very much a part of this situation, and that involvement means having a responsibility to ensure this didn't escalate the way it did as the owner of the space and program.
But, this doesn't take away from BAFTA for allowing this situation to escalate as it has by not taking better measures prior to maintaining a welcoming space for everyone, nor from the BBC for allowing the program to broadcast the slur when they went to lengths to cut out "Free Palestine." (2/2)
John's follow-up statement, like I mentioned previously, should have been better delivered. The focus of it was on addressing the intent and not on acknowledging the harm, and it didn't direct an apology to the ones who most hurt by the actionβMichael and Delroy. (1/2)
How's leaving the n-word integral to creating understanding in this situation? This sparked a conversation, albeit a non-productive one at the detriment to the individuals directly impacted and the relevant communities viewing this moment. That outcome falls on the carelessness of BAFTA and the BBC.
AM I SUPPOSED TO BE SUPRISED? IS THERE ANYONE OUT THERE WITH HALF A FUNCTIONING BRAINCELL AND A PULSE THAT'S SUPRISED??
fortune.com/2026/02/24/d...
So are you implying that the decision to leave the n-word in the program rather than edit it out OR the decision to not follow-up with Michael and Delroy afterward when there was follow-up done with John were more than appropriate actions by the academy and the BBC?
Additionally, I don't personally know this man, and I'm assuming you don't either. I'm not going to make assumptions on what I don't know. I only speak on what I've seen play out.
Here's his following statement, word for word, and he never acknowledged that "he's a jerk," according to your words.
Despite how fried my nerves have been, I decided to add my voice, as balanced as I could, to these conversations and share posts of those in the Black community who have been feeling the impacts of these conversations most.
Please take care of yourselves π€ππΎ (2/2)
This past weekend, I had a full-blown episode I needed to be talked down from, only to enter the fray of conversations (mainly on Threads) around ableism and racism the first day into the work week... I'm exhausted, ngl, but these conversations are needed. (1/2)
Wait, what!?
I literally discuss in one of my statements the danger behind this type of mentality because it only serves to shield institutions from culpability when they enact harm.
"Less racist" to whom?? What is the measure of a "less racist" society? The fact that it can't be "seen"?
Racism and ableism are INSTITUTIONAL/SYSTEMIC issues, therefore anytime I speak on such issues, regardless of individual actions, I always attempt to paint the bigger picture because such issues inform how social infrastructures shape people's behaviors and experiences.
First of all, nowhere in my statements did I even put ownership on the person who shouted the slur, even though his follow-up statements could have been better delivered.
I put complete ownership of the careless events that unfolded on the institutions involved, which here are the BBC and BAFTA.
Sadly, the result of this thoughtless oversight is that more harm will be caused to Black people and individuals living with disabilities, especially individuals who exist on the intersections of both being Black and living with a disability. (4/4)
They're prompting the public to "choose their poision," a.k.a. choose what they're more likely to get away with prioritizing as a means to ultimately center whiteness over any harm caused. (3/4)
Racism and ableism can be given room to exist in the same space as neither exist in a vacuum, but mainstream powers don't want productive conversations to take place. Insidiously, they want discord fed to drive their revenue by harvesting our reactions. (2/4)
Just reiterate, the harm isn't just that the word wasn't edited out, but that it took place and the aftermath to address the incident and the impacted individuals has been careless. (1/4) #baftas
