I think you absolutely are on to something here Q---if the thing that makes you inherently you invokes criticism by a partner...that is not the right partner. If they love that about you, they're the right person.

I went down a YouTube rabbit hole a couple of weeks ago watching numerous documentaries of profiles of families living in poverty. I have never seen people who worked harder and knew where every single dollar was then these folks.

Last night our director texted a pic of what colors she wants us to wear in our next concert. She said "make sure you remove any filters you have set on the phone so you can see the colors accurately"
