Customer service really matters to us.
It should go without saying that clear and prompt communication is important; as is the simple principle of treating people as we'd like to be treated ourselves. We know it's disappointing when other companies fail to do that - but that's not the Mariposa way.

It's no exaggeration to say the #OrchidsOfRhodes tour that my good pal @thenewgalaxy.bsky.social and I have developed is something of a love story. We love looking for orchids all over Europe and beyond. We love sharing them with guests. And we love seeing the joy the tours bring to all involved.

Meanwhile, Mariposa co-founder and tour leader @dunnjons.bsky.social is busy writing a new orchid book this winter. He says it's a fine distraction from the snow falling sideways outside his Shetland home.
We'll be sharing more insights into our leaders' wild lives in the coming days and weeks. π

Cover of 'Orchid Summer' by Jon Dunn.
This account of a journey around Britain and Ireland in search of all the wild orchid species found there, their people past and present, and their colourful stories, was one of the Guardian's 'Best Books of the Year' in 2018.
Cover of 'The Glitter in the Green' by Jon Dunn.
An account of a meandering journey across the Americas, from 60Β°N in Alaska to the very shores of the Beagle Channel in Argentina's Tierra del Fuego, in search of the most remarkable hummingbirds, their histories and place in culture, their people past and present, and their meaning and place in a world that's fast-changing.
This book was long-listed for the Carnegie Medal of Excellence in Non-fiction in 2022.
Blimey. There's suddenly a LOT more people here. Hello! For those who weren't on the bird site and don't already know, amongst other things, I write stuff, and with Christmas coming up, maybe a joyful book about orchids, or one about hummingbirds, might be a colourful antidote to winter and Now?

Shopping trolley, half submerged in black water, surrounded by fallen autumn leaves Β© Jon Dunn
Every autumn, millions of animals migrate south in search of warmer climes in which to overwinter.
Sadly, some donβt survive the journey. Migration is a testing time for the young and inexperienced. This Morrisons trolley wonβt reach its wintering grounds, nor return to breed next spring.
